Live Events

Here are a selection of live events that Team Shock has been to during 2007.

Robot Rumble- Colchester- 6th/7th April 2007

This was our first ever competition event where we only took Whirlpool (the only robot we had at the time). A great weekend with Whirlpool getting through to the final and eventually coming second after losing to Bonx. We met loads of great teams and won some nice prizes too. Well done to Bonx and Iron Awe 3 for winning.

Robots Live! Burgess Hill- 14th & 15th April 2007

What a great event! This was our first event with Robots Live! and it was fantastic. Whirlpool ran brilliantly, winning its competition fight with style by pitting Little Flipper and Surprise to be the only machine running. Splash also had a good event winning a whiteboard fight. We were unlucky in the final when Little Hitter knocked out our link but no lasting damage was sustained. Overall a great event and well done to Little Hitter and Terrorhurtz for winning.

XFM Ipswich- 1st & 2nd June 2007

Our first XFM event and Shockwaves first ever event. A fantastic weekend with many spectacular fights. Shockwave and Whirlpool performed brilliantly throughout the weekend with many wins including Shockwave getting its first OOTA and a record of 3 robots in the pit at once. Whirlpool also beat 2 axe robots in its first fight and went on to beat 13 robots in one melee. The final though was one of the best I have seen with Little Flipper being launched out and Hannibalito 2 flipping itself out leaving Skink to win. Great Event!

Robots Live! Exeter 7th & 8th July 2007

Another great event for us which was full of surprises. Firstly we managed to get both Whirlpool and Shockwave through to the final. Then because Small Torque and Little Flipper broke it meant that Splash had got through to the final as well. This meant that we had to borrow a transmitter and driver for the final. Now with half of the robots in the final we were quite confident but it ended up with Skink flipping Whirlpool around until a connection came loose which meant that Skink won. Well Done. Also well done to Bigger Brother for winning and to Terrorhurtz for managing to repair their axe after is snapped while fighting Big Nipper. Yet another great event for us.

Roaming Robots- Portsmouth- 6th & 7th October 2007

This has got to be our most successful event with our robots winning 5 out of the 7 featherweight fights during the weekend. Whirlpools increased voltage gave us the much needed speed and power boost which allowed us to outpush nearly every other feather and push a few down the pit. Most of the time though we won due to the audience vote because of the lights. Shockwave also performed brilliantly with the flipper on form it was flipping robots everywhere. We had mixed success with 4 baa 4 mainly because of the driving problems meaning that it ended up under the arena flipper and down the pit a couple of times.

Roaming Robots- Nottingham- 1st December 2007

The final of the 2007 winter tour and an event that we really wanted to do well at. Whirlpool was pitted in the semi final fight but Shockwave scraped through to the final on a very lucky judges decision. However in the final the flipper froze very early on which stopped us from flipping. In the end we managed to get 4th place. Well done to Beauty for winning. Also well done to the heavyweight winners Iron Awe 5 for an amazing display throughout the tour flipping loads of robots out including Kan Opener in the final.
