Tidal Wave 2

This is the latest robot to emerge from the Team Shock workshop. This is also the first robot that I (Will) have built without any help at all.

It is being build as part of my Design Technology CGSE project and most of the design and manufacture has been done using the school workshop. The final assembly and testing has been done in the workshop at home.

The chassis is made entirely of HDPE of varying thicknesses with pieces of Titanium being used for the flipper blade and rear spikes. The drive system is 2, 50:1 ratio MFA geared motors running 65mm diameter scooter wheels. The speed controller is a scorpion XL. It will be running at 24v on Ni-Mh batteries.

The weapon has now been upgraded to full pressure with a strengthened chassis although despite this there was very little power in the flipper and the drive system was far too slow so it is back to the drawing board, the current plan is to take out the pneumatics and replace the ram and build a new chassis to accomadate it.

Event Record

Roaming Robots WT round 2- Nottingham- Had one fight and was rubbish, the flipper had no power and couldn't even self right, the drive was also far too slow to catch anything. It eventually got flipped OOTA by Beauty 2.
